Demo Account Licence
For users in Quebec, the French version is presented first and prevails over the English version if there is any discrepancy.
Version 1.0 · 23 October 2026
1. Who this agreement is between
This licence is between Currents Bookkeeping ("Currents Books", "we", "us"), a business established in British Columbia, Canada, and the person who creates a demo account ("you"). By creating a demo account you accept this licence. If you do not accept it, do not create the account.
2. What the demo is
The demo is a 24-hour evaluation account seeded with synthetic bookkeeping data: bank and credit-card transactions, receipts, and a chart of accounts. It is deleted automatically 24 hours after it is created. It is not a production service and it is not a place to keep records.
Do not enter real client data, real personal information, or anything you need to keep. Anything you enter is deleted with the account.
3. Licence
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the demo for your own evaluation during the 24-hour period. No other rights are granted, by implication or otherwise.
4. What you must not do
You must not:
- copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, sell, resell, sublicense, or make the demo available to any other person;
- modify, adapt, translate, port to another programming language or platform, or create derivative works of the software;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software, or attempt to derive its source code, models, or prompts, except where non-waivable law expressly permits it — and then only after asking us for the interface information you need and using only what is strictly necessary;
- scrape, crawl, mine, or bulk-extract the demo, or access it with automated agents, bots, or scripts except through the documented API within published limits;
- use the demo, or any modified or derivative version of it, to operate, resell, or make available a competing hosted bookkeeping platform or a service-bureau offering. Using Currents Books in the ordinary course of your own bookkeeping practice for your own clients is not restricted by this clause;
- use the demo, its non-public outputs, prompts, or models to train, fine-tune, or otherwise improve any machine-learning or automated decision system. Internal evaluation of the demo for your own purchasing decision is permitted;
- share credentials, bypass access controls or rate limits, or remove any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notice.
5. Who owns what
We own the software, models, prompts, documentation, designs, and trademarks, and all rights not expressly granted to you. You own the data you enter into the demo. If you send us feedback, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free licence to use it without obligation to you.
6. Ending the demo
You may stop at any time by deleting the account. We may suspend or end access at any time, including if we believe this licence has been breached. When the 24 hours end, the account and its data are deleted.
7. No warranty
The demo is provided "as is" and "as available" for evaluation only. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. Nothing in this licence excludes rights you have under applicable consumer-protection or other non-waivable law.
8. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss of data arising from the demo, and our total liability arising from the demo is limited to CAD $100. Nothing in this clause limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Your privacy
We handle personal information in accordance with Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and applicable provincial law. For the demo we store your email address and the synthetic data you enter; both are deleted with the account. Our privacy policy is published at currentsbk.ca/privacy.html.
10. Language
For users in Quebec, the French version of this licence is presented first and prevails over the English version if there is any discrepancy, in accordance with the Charter of the French Language. Elsewhere, this English version applies.
11. Governing law
This licence is governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of British Columbia have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory law — including mandatory Quebec law — gives you another forum.
12. Changes
We may publish a new version of this licence. The version you accepted when you created your demo account governs that demo. The current version is always published at currentsbk.ca/eula.
